Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Lee Seagrave started the match with the kick off. In the 23rd minute of the match Jools Brumfitt sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Niall Marenghi skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Clive Browne in the 26th minute of play forced Formby's goalkeeper Niall Marenghi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 30th minute of the game. One of Reigate FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Formby:s goal. Adrian Dexter went to the wrong direction when Dale Fletcher was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Niall Marenghi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Clive Browne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Formby's zone, Keith Yorke stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Niall Marenghi came out of the goal and Keith Yorke tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Reigate FC's Adrian Dexter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lee Seagrave in the 44th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Keith Yorke in the 45th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Niall Marenghi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Clive Browne to strike the kick off in the second half. Todd Croyden kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Dylon Pollard, 53 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. If Reg Rocastle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lee Seagrave in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Adrian Dexter saved Reigate FC from getting behind. Reg Rocastle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrian Dexter having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Reigate FC's zone, Lee Seagrave stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Adrian Dexter came out of the goal and Lee Seagrave tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 65 minutes into the match, Formby's goal looked a bit too open when Clive Browne came free, but Niall Marenghi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Lee Seagrave came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Formby fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lee Seagrave couldn't finish the play. 72 minutes into the match, Reigate FC's Clive Browne sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Niall Marenghi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Reigate FC's Adrian Dexter played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reg Rocastle in the 73rd minute of play. In the 76th minute, Todd Croyden hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Formby's Lee Seagrave in the 84th minute got a chance for a shot 84th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Reigate FC's goalie prevented a goal. After 88 minutes, Jake Fletcher mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Formby and the Reigate FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 88th minute, Jake Fletcher hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 96th play minutes Keith Yorke shot 1-1, a short shot which went by Niall Marenghi and just under the crossbar into goal. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
