Buster Breckin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lee Seagrave, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Felix Ingram in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Niall Marenghi saved Formby from getting behind. Reg Rocastle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Buster Breckin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lee Seagrave, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 25th minute Felix Ingram shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Niall Marenghi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Reg Rocastle came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Formby fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Reg Rocastle couldn't finish the play. Buster Breckin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lee Seagrave in the 31st minute of play. In the 33rd minute Reg Rocastle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Buster Breckin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Lee Seagrave had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Reg Rocastle in the 40th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Buster Breckin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lee Seagrave to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Lee Seagrave managed to get in a good position for a shot. Formby's supporters rose to their feet, but Lee Seagrave was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Buster Breckin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Formby getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Todd Croyden hit a great ball. After 80 played minutes, Mitcheldean Foresters's Trevor Pearson shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Niall Marenghi came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Mitcheldean Foresters reached it. After having played for 85 minutes, Reg Rocastle managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Formby's supporters crossed their fingers, but Reg Rocastle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lee Seagrave in the 87th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Buster Breckin saved Mitcheldean Foresters from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lee Seagrave in the 89th minute of play forced Mitcheldean Foresters's goalkeeper Buster Breckin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Reg Rocastle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Reg Rocastles short, quick shot in the 99thth minute got Buster Breckin to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. When the match was over Formby could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Mitcheldean Foresters throughout the match.
