Greenwich Stadium
Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Greenwich's Alf Akins started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Patrick Sullivan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 2nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johnathan Pritchard having to interfere. Frank McCunnie's late challenge caught a Greenwich's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Frank McCunnie helped the player get up and apologised. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frank McCunnie in the 7th minute of play forced Greenwich's goalkeeper Johnathan Pritchard to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Grant Davies had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, ESCOLI's Charles Jepson got a free kick in the 12th minute. If Frank McCunnie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Patrick Sullivan struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Johnathan Pritchard didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ESCOLI. After having played for 23 minutes, Frank McCunnie managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ESCOLI's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frank McCunnie was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Greenwich's zone, Patrick Sullivan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Johnathan Pritchard came out of the goal and Patrick Sullivan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 27th minute, Ashley Joy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, ESCOLI's Zak Worrall got a free kick in the 34th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Grant Davies managed to get in a good position for a shot. Greenwich's supporters rose to their feet, but Grant Davies was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zaq Wittingham breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 41st minute, Frank McCunnie ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Johnathan Pritchard was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. If Frank McCunnie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frank McCunnie stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Patrick Maxell fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ESCOLI's protests and gave Patrick Maxell a yellow card for diving instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Grant Davies in the 55th minute of play forced ESCOLI's goalkeeper Zaq Wittingham to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 56 minutes into the game, Jeffrey Ealham was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Greenwich's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave ESCOLI the free kick. Jeffrey Ealham kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. The supporters of Greenwich booed when ESCOLI was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patrick Sullivan didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 59th minute Alf Akins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zaq Wittingham saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Johnathan Pritchard showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frank McCunnie in the 63rd minute of the match. 64 minutes into the match, Greenwich's goal looked a bit too open when Frank McCunnie came free, but Johnathan Pritchard reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Brendon Bartram kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Patrick Sullivan got free with Johnathan Pritchard in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Zaq Wittingham made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alf Akins in the 74th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Grant Davies during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Grant Davies hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. When Frank McCunnie came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the ESCOLI fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frank McCunnie couldn't finish the play. 89 minutes into the game, Lloyd Pope was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. ESCOLI's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Greenwich the free kick. Patrick Sullivan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Johnathan Pritchard showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frank McCunnie, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. A hard shot 94 in the game by Patrick Sullivan from a close distance when the talented Johnathan Pritchard managed to make a qualified save. Greenwich's players were relieved. When the match was over ESCOLI could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Greenwich throughout the match.
