Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Adrian Steele got the match started through his kick off. Stevie Soussan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Chip Warner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wes Stockley having to interfere. Adrian Steele fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leroy Seagrave having to interfere. After having played for 20 minutes, Stevie Soussan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bedlington's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stevie Soussan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 21st minute, Phillip Armitage hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alastair Greenfield kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. If Freddie Chalk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Den Bishop fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bedlington's protests and gave Den Bishop a yellow card for diving instead. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind Bedlington's goalkeeper Leroy Seagrave, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Marty Lemerond hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Adrian Steele fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leroy Seagrave having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
Freddie Chalk received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Leroy Seagrave tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Balsall Common's Adrian Steele got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 62 minutes, Freddie Chalk put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Leroy Seagrave. Stevie Soussan kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Leroy Seagrave took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Freddie Chalk, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wes Stockley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chip Warner in the 74th minute of play. Wes Stockley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marty Lemerond in the 80th minute of the match. Chip Warner struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Wes Stockley didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bedlington. Wes Stockley showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chip Warner, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Wes Stockley made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chip Warner in the 92nd minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Balsall Common fans cheered their team off the field, for while Bedlington had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
