The corner was taken by Neil Griggs in the 33rd minute. After 35 minutes South Shields's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Neil Griggs who took care of the corner kick. Neil Griggs made a great header on Bovingdon's corner, it was just that South Shields's Matthew Blake managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 36th match minute, South Shields was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Calvin Higgins to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in South Shields's zone, Dean Titmus stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Matthew Blake came out of the goal and Dean Titmus tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 40 minutes into the game, Jake Shipton cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Matthew Blake was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Dean Titmus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jake Shipton in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Matthew Blake saved South Shields from getting behind. The South Shields players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Bovingdon were winning 0-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dave Shields to strike the kick off in the second half. Bovingdon's Dion Horsey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Calvin Higgins in the 52nd minute of play. Timothy Elliott hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jake Shipton in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Matthew Blake prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jake Shipton's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 71stth minute, Matthew Blake skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Reg Bond had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 75th minute, Jake Shipton ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Matthew Blake was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. 84 minutes into the game, Jake Shipton cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-6. Matthew Blake was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dave Shields in the 88th minute of play forced Bovingdon's goalkeeper Dion Horsey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Matthew Blake made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Jake Shipton sent off a good shot on target. Matthew Blake stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jake Shipton's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. Jake Shiptons short, quick shot in the 96thth minute got Matthew Blake to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The South Shields fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Bovingdon were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
