The coaching staff of Brierley Hill protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Rex Middleton had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. When Iain Sollit came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Brierley Hill fans jumped to their feet. With his leg Crispin Barber managed to avoid a goal in the 93rdth minute, when Kayaibanda's Nat Ellerton fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 94 minutes into the game, Gaz Oldham was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Brierley Hill's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Kayaibanda the free kick.
