Billy Woodman might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Warren Jenkinson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Billy Woodman ran back to his position shaking his head. If Eddy Crowell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Billy Woodman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Warren Jenkinson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Graham Pope hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Robin Norton in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Warren Jenkinson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Joshua Crossman's late challenge caught a Ealing United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Joshua Crossman helped the player get up and apologised. In the 27th match minute, Wigan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joshua Crossman to maneuver through the defense. Robin Norton scored 0-1 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Warren Jenkinson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Simeon Clarke fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Wigan's protests and gave Simeon Clarke a yellow card for diving instead. In the 32nd minute, Simeon Clarke hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Robin Norton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Robin Norton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Warren Jenkinson having to interfere. Robin Norton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 47 minutes, Robin Norton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ealing United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Robin Norton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Wigan players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ealing United were winning 0-1.

After a rather tough play, Wigan's Graham Pope got a free kick in the 59th minute. Graham Pope kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. If Robin Norton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 68 minutes into the game, Wigan's Marc Branson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tom Boulding made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. When Marc Branson fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Wigan's protests and gave Marc Branson a yellow card for diving instead. After 71 played minutes Wigan got a freekick which was hit by Marc Branson. 73 minutes into the match, Robin Norton had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Warren Jenkinson. Wigan's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Robin Norton was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Ealing United's Tom Boulding played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Simeon Clarke in the 77th minute of play. With splendid footwork Robin Norton arrived in front of goal to shoot 1-3 by the left pole in the game's 80th minute. Warren Jenkinson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Barney Meade, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Ealing United's Alfred Hoult got a free kick in the 92nd minute. When the match had gone on for 96 minutes, Robin Norton took a quick shot and it went in 1-5 without a chance for Warren Jenkinson to make any attempt to save it. When the match was over Ealing United could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Wigan throughout the match.
