Spectators: 5250 (Terracing: 4250, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Rio McGrath started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Nathanial Pilgrim recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Drew Forster had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marty Eastwood showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Drew Forster, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ben Bannister in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Will Peake saved Preston North End from getting behind. Ben Bannister received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Will Peake tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 30th minute Drew Forster shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marty Eastwood saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Southbourne's Marty Eastwood got control of the ball when Nathanial Pilgrim tried to sneak it across the goal line. Southbourne's Rio McGrath got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Darren Ball fell near the penalty area in the 40th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Southbourne's protests and gave Darren Ball a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Southbourne getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Darren Ball hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nathanial Pilgrim got free with Marty Eastwood in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. During the 42nd minute of the match Darren Ball completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Darren Ball a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Darren Ball hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Preston North End's Drew Forster got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Drew Forster made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Drew Forster in the 59th minute of play forced Southbourne's goalkeeper Marty Eastwood to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marty Eastwood made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nathanial Pilgrim in the 60th minute of play. Drew Forster recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 68th minute Nathanial Pilgrim shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marty Eastwood saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ben Bannister during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Preston North End booed when Southbourne was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ben Bannister didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 80th minute, Nathanial Pilgrim got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Dale Wilmott came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Preston North End fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dale Wilmott couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Southbourne's zone, Nathanial Pilgrim stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marty Eastwood came out of the goal and Nathanial Pilgrim tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ben Bannister received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Will Peake tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
