Greg Seal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kenny Ruddock in the 14th minute of the match. In the 19th match minute, Isle of Wight FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michael Messenger to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcus Carlisle got free with Tommy Pullen in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Marcus Carlisle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Tommy Pullen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Isle of Wight FC booed when Stubbington FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Samuel Sharp didn't get a good kick on the ball. Greg Seal stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Teddy Verity's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. Greg Seal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Teddy Verity, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kenny Ruddock sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kenny Ruddock in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Greg Seal prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Tommy Pullen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marcus Carlisle's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. Greg Seal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Teddy Verity, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 44 minutes into the game, Jonathan Dunning cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Greg Seal was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After the first half Isle of Wight FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kenny Ruddock was the one to do the kick off. Greg Seal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kenny Ruddock in the 52nd minute of play. In the 58th minute Marcus Carlisle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Pullen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stubbington FC's Greg Seal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Stubbington FC from getting a goal against them. Marcus Carlisle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 65th minute, Marcus Carlisle got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 67 minutes into the match, Isle of Wight FC's Teddy Verity sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Greg Seal narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jim Christie during the 68th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Jim Christie hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Marcus Carlisle recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Huey Kaye kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. After having played for 78 minutes, Marcus Carlisle managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Stubbington FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcus Carlisle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Stubbington FC's Dan Phippard got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Michael Messenger fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Isle of Wight FC's protests and gave Michael Messenger a yellow card for diving instead. Marcus Carlisle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tommy Pullen having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Kenny Ruddock managed to get in a good position for a shot. Isle of Wight FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Kenny Ruddock was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Greg Seal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Marcus Carlisle struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Tommy Pullen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Stubbington FC. When the match clock showed 92 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Kenny Ruddock sped through Stubbington FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Greg Seal. Stubbington FC's Greg Seal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save Stubbington FC from getting a goal against them. Isle of Wight FC were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Stubbington FC's much stronger midfield.
