The tension between the Isle of Wight FC and the Burscough AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. 29 minutes into the game, Isle of Wight FC's Teddy Verity nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Luke Holdsworth made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. In the 32nd minute, Ashley Clifton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Teddy Verity received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Luke Holdsworth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luke Holdsworth showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Teddy Verity, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. After 38 minutes, Simeon Housham mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Burscough AFC and the Isle of Wight FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Isle of Wight FC booed when Burscough AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Simeon Housham didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Teddy Verity's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luke Holdsworth was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. 45 minutes into the match, Burscough AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Kenny Ruddock came free, but Luke Holdsworth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half Isle of Wight FC were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kenny Ruddock to strike the kick off in the second half. 58 minutes into the match, Isle of Wight FC's Kenny Ruddock sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luke Holdsworth narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 65th minute, Huey Kaye sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Burscough AFC's Luke Holdsworth didn't even have to move. If Kenny Ruddock had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kenny Ruddock in the 74th minute of play forced Burscough AFC's goalkeeper Luke Holdsworth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Burscough AFC's zone, Teddy Verity stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luke Holdsworth came out of the goal and Teddy Verity tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Teddy Verity sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Luke Holdsworth stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kenny Ruddock's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. Luke Holdsworth was out of position in the 85 minute of play, and Kenny Ruddock capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Kenny Ruddock really showed his touch with that goal: 1-4. When Isle of Wight FC's Kenny Ruddock in the 90th minute got a chance for a shot 90th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Burscough AFC's goalie prevented a goal. When Stewart Edmonton came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Burscough AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stewart Edmonton couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Isle of Wight FC's zone, Graeme Gallagher stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tommy Pullen came out of the goal and Graeme Gallagher tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Isle of Wight FC played a much better game than Burscough AFC and deserved their victory. The Burscough AFC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
