Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Stewart Stayton in the 15th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cliff Whitworth prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 16th minute Kelvin Dolby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cliff Whitworth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 16th minute Hugh Cambridge suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. 16 minutes into the game, Zane Boyd was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Maroon's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Perivale AFC the free kick. Perivale AFC's Trey Lambert was substituted for Hugh Cambridge. In the 18th match minute, Maroon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zane Boyd to maneuver through the defense. Brendon Metcalf recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 28th minute Stewart Stayton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cliff Whitworth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brendon Metcalf in the 30th minute of play forced Perivale AFC's goalkeeper Rex Moorhouse to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Kelvin Dolby had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Trey Lambert came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Perivale AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Trey Lambert couldn't finish the play. Trey Lambert recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Stewart Stayton's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cliff Whitworth read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Maroon's Cliff Whitworth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kelvin Dolby in the 51st minute of play. Stewart Stayton might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cliff Whitworth. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Stewart Stayton ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brendon Metcalf in the 54th minute of play forced Perivale AFC's goalkeeper Rex Moorhouse to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stewart Stayton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cliff Whitworth made an important save on a dangerous shot by Trey Lambert in the 62nd minute. A very good chance for a goal. 67 minutes into the match, Maroon's goalkeeper Cliff Whitworth had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Stewart Stayton. If Zane Boyd had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vic Bond fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cliff Whitworth having to interfere. Perivale AFC were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
