Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Gwyn Monk got the match started through his kick off. Rupert Mason sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 9th minute, Witham City's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Kris Nicholson fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 12th minute Gwyn Monk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ritchie Spann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ritchie Spann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Conal McCunnie in the 13th minute of play. A hard shot by Dale Wroe from long distance, 14 minutes into the match, got Noel Myers's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dale Wroe during the 20th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Boston Red Sox fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 20th minute. Penalty! Ritchie Spann had in the 22ndth minute some difficulties stopping Stephen Longstaff's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Ritchie Spann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gwyn Monk in the 23rd minute of the match. In the 24th minute, Micheal Shuttleworth hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Pete McDermot came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Boston Red Sox fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pete McDermot couldn't finish the play. Witham City's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Kris Nicholson 29 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. Pete McDermot sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Micheal Shuttleworth came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Boston Red Sox fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Micheal Shuttleworth couldn't finish the play. In the 41st minute Kris Nicholson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Noel Myers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 49th minute, Rodd Stayton sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Witham City's Noel Myers didn't even have to move. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kris Nicholson was the one to do the kick off. 55 minutes into the match, Boston Red Sox's goal looked a bit too open when Gwyn Monk came free, but Ritchie Spann reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Noel Myers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kris Nicholson in the 56th minute of play. Ritchie Spann made an important save on a dangerous shot by Conal McCunnie in the 62nd minute. Witham City's Noel Myers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kris Nicholson in the 64th minute of play. Kris Nicholson struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Noel Myers didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Boston Red Sox. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Micheal Shuttleworth during the 69th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 69th match minute, Boston Red Sox was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Micheal Shuttleworth to maneuver through the defense. Ritchie Spann came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by Witham City's Conal McCunnie. But to his dismay, Conal McCunnie quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Conal McCunnie's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ritchie Spann read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 74th minute of play. After 76 played minutes Witham City got a freekick which was hit by Bryan Greaves. Noel Myers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pete McDermot, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. If Kris Nicholson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Witham City's Conal McCunnie got a free kick in the 83rd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Kris Nicholson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Boston Red Sox's supporters rose to their feet, but Kris Nicholson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Noel Myers breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Boston Red Sox's Ritchie Spann got control of the ball when Conal McCunnie tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience was convinced that Kris Nicholson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Noel Myers was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. After 91 minutes, Roy Shearer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Boston Red Sox and the Witham City players grew even worse after the yellow card. Roy Shearer hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. When Conal McCunnie came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Witham City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Conal McCunnie couldn't finish the play. After having played for 98 minutes, Kris Nicholson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Boston Red Sox's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kris Nicholson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Despite being the better team, Boston Red Sox failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
