Ritchie Spann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Philip McDermot in the 29th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kris Nicholson in the 34th minute of play forced Manchester United FC's goalkeeper Marty Benbow to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ritchie Spann made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mattias Leatherdale in the 36th minute of play. Marty Benbow made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kris Nicholson in the 41st minute of play. 43 minutes into the match, Pete McDermot had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marty Benbow. Manchester United FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pete McDermot was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Pete McDermot fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marty Benbow having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mattias Leatherdale stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Pete McDermot sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Manchester United FC booed when Boston Red Sox was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kris Nicholson didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kris Nicholson in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marty Benbow saved Manchester United FC from getting behind. Marty Benbow came out of the goal in the 90th minute to try and stop a shot by Boston Red Sox's Pete McDermot. But to his dismay, Pete McDermot quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. When Teddy Pringle fell near the penalty area in the 93rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Manchester United FC's protests and gave Teddy Pringle a yellow card for diving instead. Boston Red Sox walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
