Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Brighouse United's Tony Jump started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Blair Horsell hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. In the 4th minute of the match Rodd Stayton sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Craig Ackroyd skillfully saved the ball. Seb Dyson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ritchie Spann having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kris Nicholson in the 9th minute of play forced Brighouse United's goalkeeper Craig Ackroyd to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Craig Ackroyd didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kris Nicholson went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Kris Nicholson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Craig Ackroyd having to interfere. Ritchie Spann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tony Jump, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Brighouse United's Seb Dyson got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Brighouse United's goalkeeper Craig Ackroyd, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 34 minutes, Kris Nicholson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Boston Red Sox's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kris Nicholson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Kris Nicholson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 38 minutes into the match, Brighouse United's goal looked a bit too open when Pete McDermot came free, but Craig Ackroyd reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Kris Nicholson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Boston Red Sox's Ritchie Spann proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to save Boston Red Sox from getting a goal against them. Kris Nicholson kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kris Nicholson to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Pete McDermot got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kris Nicholson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Craig Ackroyd having to interfere. 63 minutes into the match, Pete McDermot had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Craig Ackroyd. Brighouse United's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pete McDermot was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. In the 70th minute, Kris Nicholson reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Craig Ackroyd. The goal made the score 0-3. After 73 played minutes Boston Red Sox got a freekick which was hit by Chris Blowman. Ritchie Spann took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tony Jump, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Boston Red Sox's Kris Nicholson in the 83rd minute got a chance for a shot 83rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Brighouse United's goalie prevented a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pete McDermot got free with Craig Ackroyd in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Pete McDermot received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Craig Ackroyd tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pete McDermot fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Craig Ackroyd having to interfere. Boston Red Sox's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
