After 19 minutes of play, Witham City's Gwyn Monk made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Marty Benbow was left in no man's land by his defense there! Conal McCunnie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 25thth minute of the game Gwyn Monk who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Manchester United FC's Marty Benbow was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Marty Benbow made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gwyn Monk in the 26th minute of play. Ivan Ricketts's late challenge caught a Witham City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ivan Ricketts helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Manchester United FC's Ivan Ricketts got a free kick in the 27th minute. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Manchester United FC's goalkeeper Marty Benbow, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Witham City booed when Manchester United FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teddy Pringle didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 36 minutes, Conal McCunnie managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Witham City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Conal McCunnie was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marty Benbow took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gwyn Monk, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Conal McCunnie's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marty Benbow was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind Witham City's goalkeeper Noel Myers, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.

Noel Myers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mattias Leatherdale in the 56th minute of the match. Marty Benbow made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gwyn Monk in the 57th minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Conal McCunnie could shoot a difficult shot in the 58th minute, which Marty Benbow however easily saved by the left post. Conal McCunnies short, quick shot in the 64thth minute got Marty Benbow to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. A collision led to Manchester United FC getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Teddy Pringle hit a great ball. Conal McCunnie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Marty Benbow tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marty Benbow showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gwyn Monk, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. Noel Myers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Philip McDermot in the 73rd minute of the match. In the 80th minute Philip McDermot shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Noel Myers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 82 minutes Witham City's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Pat Bradfield who took care of the corner kick. Gwyn Monk received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Marty Benbow tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Gwyn Monk managed to get in a good position for a shot. Witham City's supporters rose to their feet, but Gwyn Monk was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marty Benbow breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 89 minutes into the match, Manchester United FC's goalkeeper Marty Benbow had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Conal McCunnie. Conal McCunnie struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Marty Benbow didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Witham City. After a defensive mix-up in Manchester United FC's zone, Conal McCunnie stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marty Benbow came out of the goal and Conal McCunnie tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 95th minute, Gwyn Monk got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Manchester United FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Witham City were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
