When Fraser Morgan came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Exeter City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fraser Morgan couldn't finish the play. In the 8th minute, Al Allwright hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Craig Whitworth made an important save on a dangerous shot by Terry Mann in the 10th minute. A collision led to Exeter City getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Teddy Mulligan hit a great ball. In the 19th minute Bradley Rashleigh suffered a foot injury and had to be helped off the field. Gregory Morgan hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Terry Mann kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Craig Whitworth. That made the score 1-0 in the 21 minute of play. The supporters of Lingdale88 booed when Exeter City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sid Lloyd didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Terry Mann managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lingdale88's supporters rose to their feet, but Terry Mann was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Craig Whitworth breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ken Dothery might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Craig Whitworth. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ken Dothery ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Terry Mann got free with Craig Whitworth in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Fraser Morgan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Howard Sheringham having to interfere. Deon Little sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Terry Mann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.

Fraser Morgans short, quick shot in the 55thth minute got Howard Sheringham to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Grant Small kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Lingdale88's Bob Connery got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fraser Morgan got free with Howard Sheringham in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lingdale88's Howard Sheringham played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Deon Little in the 65th minute of play. Terry Mann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jimmy Todd kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. 82 minutes into the match, Deon Little notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Lingdale88's Howard Sheringham. Howard Sheringham was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Teddy Mulligan charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Teddy Mulligan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Craig Whitworth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jimmy Todd, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpected shot in the 95th minute by Fraser Morgan got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Exeter City walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
