With a little luck, Plaza Mayor's Lawrence Pearson got control of the ball when Chaz Taggart tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 19th minute Niall Rawson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lawrence Pearson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aaron Norton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 29 minutes, Aaron Norton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Plaza Mayor's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aaron Norton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Chaz Taggart could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Lawrence Pearson made a huge save. Lawrence Pearson made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Chaz Taggart sent off a good shot on target. Aaron Norton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Chaz Taggart struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Lawrence Pearson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ashton-in-Makerfield. 41 minutes into the match, Plaza Mayor's goal looked a bit too open when Harry Barltrop came free, but Lawrence Pearson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Plaza Mayor's Lawrence Pearson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save Plaza Mayor from getting a goal against them. Lawrence Pearson made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Chaz Taggart sent off a good shot on target. Niall Rawson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Lawrence Pearson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Chaz Taggart's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 47thth minute, Lawrence Pearson skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Niall Rawson was the one to do the kick off. Lawrence Pearson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chaz Taggart, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Niall Rawson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lawrence Pearson was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. Chaz Taggart struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Lawrence Pearson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ashton-in-Makerfield. In the 90th minute, Ashton-in-Makerfield's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Aaron Norton fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Chaz Taggart recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Ashton-in-Makerfield booed when Plaza Mayor was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reg Rice didn't get a good kick on the ball.
