After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Ted Wilson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Winchester FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ted Wilson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Charlie Phelps breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 9th minute, Ted Wilson made a precise shot to the right of Charlie Phelps. Darlington United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Ian Cowling made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Les Barker in the 17th minute of play. Olly Sedgemore kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Charlie Phelps made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Ted Wilson sent off a good shot on target. Dale Fayle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Charlie Phelps tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 35 minutes into the match, Winchester FC's goal looked a bit too open when Sammy Leatherdale came free, but Ian Cowling reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 37 minutes into the match, Sammy Leatherdale had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ian Cowling. Winchester FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sammy Leatherdale was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. In the 40th minute, one of Darlington United:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Darlington United. Francis Knight placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! After 44 minutes, Camron Mann mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Winchester FC and the Darlington United players grew even worse after the yellow card. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ted Wilson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Winchester FC's Dale Fayle got a free kick in the 53rd minute. An unexpected shot in the 61st minute by Olly Trueman got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 65 minutes into the match, Darlington United's goal looked a bit too open when Ted Wilson came free, but Charlie Phelps reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Winchester FC's Ted Wilson got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ted Wilson might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Charlie Phelps. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ted Wilson ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 73rd minute, Les Barker hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Blair Jefferies hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Charlie Phelps showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dale Fayle in the 80th minute of the match. The referee gave Winchester FC a penalty, 90 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Francis Knight, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Darlington United's Charlie Phelps. 3-2. Olly Trueman hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. When Winchester FC's Ted Wilson in the 97th minute got a chance for a shot 97th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
