Roy Runberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kurt Corbett having to interfere. 22 minutes into the game, Silvester Chilton was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Achilles FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Elstree Brigades F.C the free kick. 34 minutes into the game, Achilles FC's Vic Edwards nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eric Linford made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. If Vic Edwards had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the match clock showed 51 minutes, the score became 3-1 when Roy Runberg sped through Achilles FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Kurt Corbett. If Roy Runberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Achilles FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kurt Corbett should have stopped the shot. Kurt Corbett showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roy Runberg in the 83rd minute of the match. Kurt Corbett made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roy Runberg in the 88th minute of play. Kurt Corbett stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Roy Runberg's shot from short distance in the 89th minute. Roy Runberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. There was no doubt that Elstree Brigades F.C were the better team. Elstree Brigades F.C's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
