Telford's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Telford's attack was well implemented in the 8th minute, but when Lance Apsden was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. Goal Kick. In the 11th minute, Telford's Garry Titmus ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Clive Robson. Clive Robson yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. When %teams%'s Johnnie Howard was free in front of goal, he didn't hesitate to shoot 2-0 just inside the left pole, 16 minutes into the game. Clive Robson was annoyed at himself for letting in the shot. Southwell's Clive Robson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Southwell from getting a goal against them. Trevor Blackburn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frazer Houghton in the 25th minute of play. Johnnie Howard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Clive Robson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Clive Robson made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Lance Apsden sent off a good shot on target. Lance Apsden might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Clive Robson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lance Apsden ran back to his position shaking his head. Lance Apsden fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clive Robson having to interfere.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Johnnie Howard stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Clive Robson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Johnnie Howard's shot from short distance in the 51st minute. 58 minutes into the match, Southwell's goal looked a bit too open when Lance Apsden came free, but Clive Robson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 63rd minute of the match Iain Crossley sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Trevor Blackburn skillfully saved the ball. Lance Apsden fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clive Robson having to interfere. 68 minutes into the match, Johnnie Howard notched a goal, 6-0, to the right of Southwell's Clive Robson. Clive Robson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Clive Robson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Johnnie Howard, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. 80 minutes into the match, Southwell's goal looked a bit too open when Johnnie Howard came free, but Clive Robson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lance Apsden in the 86th minute of play forced Southwell's goalkeeper Clive Robson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Johnnie Howard's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Clive Robson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. In the 89thth minute of the game Johnnie Howard who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Southwell's Clive Robson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Johnnie Howard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clive Robson having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Telford fully deserved thier win.
