Seating: 1746, VIP seats: 151) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Johnnie Howard started the match with the kick off. A collision led to FC Kennington getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Len Bambrook hit a great ball. 6 minutes into the match, Telford's goal looked a bit too open when Andre MacDonald came free, but Trevor Blackburn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Johnnie Howard in the 8th minute of play forced FC Kennington's goalkeeper Damion Easton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Alan Messenger fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Kennington's protests and gave Alan Messenger a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, FC Kennington's Alan Messenger got a free kick in the 9th minute. Damion Easton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lance Apsden in the 10th minute of play. In the 15th minute Johnnie Howard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Damion Easton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Johnnie Howard managed to get in a good position for a shot. Telford's supporters rose to their feet, but Johnnie Howard was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Damion Easton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 18 minutes into the game, Stephen Holbrook was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Kennington's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Telford the free kick. A collision led to FC Kennington getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Stephen Holbrook hit a great ball. In the 19th minute, Glyn Baxter sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and FC Kennington's Damion Easton didn't even have to move. Damion Easton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Johnnie Howard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Damion Easton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Johnnie Howard in the 29th minute of the match. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Telford's goalkeeper Trevor Blackburn, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. FC Kennington's Damion Easton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Johnnie Howard in the 34th minute of play. 36 minutes into the match, FC Kennington's goal looked a bit too open when Johnnie Howard came free, but Damion Easton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to FC Kennington getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Stephen Holbrook hit a great ball. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Kennington's goalkeeper Damion Easton, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Andre MacDonald to make the kick off. Damion Easton made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lance Apsden in the 54th minute. Johnnie Howard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daryl Pilkington's late challenge caught a Telford's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Daryl Pilkington helped the player get up and apologised. A hard shot 69 in the game by Lance Apsden from a close distance when the talented Damion Easton managed to make a qualified save. FC Kennington's players were relieved. Trevor Blackburn didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Andre MacDonald went, in the 73rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. With a little luck, FC Kennington's Damion Easton got control of the ball when Lance Apsden tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Niall Young came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the FC Kennington fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Niall Young couldn't finish the play. If Lance Apsden had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, FC Kennington's Damion Easton got control of the ball when Lance Apsden tried to sneak it across the goal line.
