But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfred Endean couldn't finish the play. 26 minutes into the game, John Paul Cain was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Millbrook utd's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Southwell the free kick. A collision led to Millbrook utd getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jo Bensley was the one to do the kick off.
