Bruce Paine sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Scott Wootton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Damion Easton having to interfere. Niall Young was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 16th minute. FC Kennington's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 17 minutes into the game, Andre MacDonald cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Den Kaye was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Bruce Paine fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Damion Easton having to interfere. Bruce Paine sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Scott Wootton recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Andre MacDonald fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Den Kaye having to interfere. The supporters of FC Kennington booed when Helsby was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gez Davis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Niall Young sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Niall Young might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Den Kaye. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Damion Easton came out of the goal and Scott Wootton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bruce Paine to make the kick off. Den Kaye took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Niall Young, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gez Davis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Damion Easton made a huge save. 64 minutes into the game, Gez Davis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Helsby's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Kennington the free kick. In the 64th match minute, Helsby was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gez Davis to maneuver through the defense. In the 70th minute Alan Messenger suffered a foot injury and had to be helped off the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Scott Wootton during the 70th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Helsby's Gez Davis got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in FC Kennington's zone, Bruce Paine stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Damion Easton came out of the goal and Bruce Paine tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Gez Davis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Helsby getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Vinnie Bastow hit a great ball. With an all-out effort, Helsby's Damion Easton threw himself towards the right post 96 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Scott Wootton, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 96th play minute Scott Wootton came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Damion Easton. 1-1. Helsby were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing FC Kennington to leave the ground with a draw.
