Graham Branston fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pierce Meehan having to interfere. Zane Tomkin hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. In the 32nd minute, Gregory Brook got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Marty Jenkins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gregory Brook, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Perry Barker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Rawtenstall were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tommy Stonehouse stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tommy Stonehouse received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Pierce Meehan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 61 minutes into the match, Mason FC's Perry Barker sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marty Jenkins narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 64th minute Gregory Brook shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marty Jenkins saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 66th minute, Matty Lambert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mason FC's Pierce Meehan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save Mason FC from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Mason FC booed when Rawtenstall was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Graham Branston didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tommy Stonehouse in the 80th minute of play forced Mason FC's goalkeeper Pierce Meehan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rawtenstall's supporters crossed their fingers, but Graham Branston was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Graham Branston scored 0-4 in the 85th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Pierce Meehan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Marty Jenkins made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gregory Brook in the 89th minute of play. 91 minutes into the match, Rawtenstall's goal looked a bit too open when Shaun Sparks came free, but Marty Jenkins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Perry Barker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marty Jenkins having to interfere. If Graham Branston had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Rawtenstall players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
