In the 22nd minute, Ambleside's Cliff Wardell dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. Donny Renwick recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Donny Renwick in the 27th minute of play forced Ambleside's goalkeeper Nicholas Lappin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Ulverston FC's Clive Teague got control of the ball when Quentin Pelc tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 30th minute, Lloyd Bayford hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Donny Renwick's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nicholas Lappin was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game.
