With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dominic Sheridan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Archway's Simon Notley got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Cody Theobold took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ty Hindmarsh, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Archway defense, James Willmott kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dominic Sheridan. The Archway fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dominic Sheridan should have stopped the shot. Dominic Sheridan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Max Scriven in the 35th minute of play. In the 38th minute James Willmott shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dominic Sheridan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Archway booed when Wigan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joey Goldthorpe didn't get a good kick on the ball. Joey Goldthorpe charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Joey Goldthorpe the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joey Spencer was the one to do the kick off. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Archway. The referee gave Wigan a penalty, 59 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Marek Styles, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Archway's Dominic Sheridan. 2-2. Ty Hindmarsh hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. A hard shot 66 in the game by James Willmott from a close distance when the talented Dominic Sheridan managed to make a qualified save. Archway's players were relieved. Max Scriven's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 68thth minute, Dominic Sheridan skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal.
