After a defensive mix-up in Boscombe's zone, Jeff Widdrington stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zak Harrington came out of the goal and Jeff Widdrington tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Jeff Widdrington came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the New Team fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jeff Widdrington couldn't finish the play. Brendon Coleman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zak Harrington having to interfere. After having played for 67 minutes, Brendon Coleman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. New Team's supporters crossed their fingers, but Brendon Coleman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 70th minute of the match New Team got a corner. Boscombe's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Reggie Marenghi ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 73rd minute, Jeff Widdrington got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to New Team getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Denny Acton hit a great ball. In the 77th minute Paul Fleetwood shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lewis Grantham saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jeff Widdrington might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zak Harrington. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jeff Widdrington ran back to his position shaking his head. Brendon Coleman struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Zak Harrington didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for New Team. If Denny Acton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. New Team's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
