The audience was convinced that Gerry Dennison's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Darryl Sledge was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. In the 32nd minute of the match Jeremy Mortimer sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Darryl Sledge skillfully saved the ball. After a defensive mix-up in F95's zone, Gerry Dennison stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Darryl Sledge came out of the goal and Gerry Dennison tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gerry Dennison received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Darryl Sledge tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. F95's Darryl Sledge played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dale Davis in the 44th minute of play. Gerry Dennison fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Darryl Sledge having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Martyn Lemerond to make the kick off.
