Eddy Sheppard didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Swinton AFC. 17 minutes into the match, Swinton AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Dave Markinson came free, but Tristram Bittner reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Dale Oliver had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 23 minutes, Dave Markinson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Liverpool FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dave Markinson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 25 minutes into the game, Ivan Cowling was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Swinton AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Liverpool FC the free kick. 26 minutes into the match, Liverpool FC's Jamie Hanley broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 33rd minute, Martyn Hatcher got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Dave Markinson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 38th minute, Kristopher Hylton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Dave Markinson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bruce Lamb sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Swinton AFC's Tristram Bittner proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 59th minute of the match, managed to save Swinton AFC from getting a goal against them. 61 minutes into the match, Swinton AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Gary Story-Moore came free, but Tristram Bittner reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 88th match minute, Liverpool FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bruce Lamb to maneuver through the defense. Martyn Hatcher who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 90thth minute tested the skills of Tristram Bittner when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Patrick Bailey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Eddy Sheppard tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Swinton AFC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Liverpool FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
