The audience thought a goal was coming when Ozzy Parkinson got free with Steven Boxall in the 4th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tyrone Bowler scored 0-1 in the 7th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Philip Barratt, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 15th minute, Border Jets FC's Peter Street seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Peter Street the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Border Jets FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Peter Street had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in Border Jets FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 14th minute. Penalty! In the 17th minute there was a penalty for crystal palace. Mick Wendon stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Philip Barratt. 0-2. Philip Barratt didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Adam Mudd went, in the 21st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Philip Barratt stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Craig Lemerond's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. After some careless play in the Border Jets FC defense, Tyrone Bowler kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Philip Barratt. The Border Jets FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Philip Barratt should have stopped the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Craig Lemerond during the 31st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 37th minute Jeffrey Trusswell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Philip Barratt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Freddie Hatcher's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Steven Boxall read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. Philip Barratt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tyrone Bowler in the 44th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Border Jets FC's zone, Jeffrey Trusswell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Philip Barratt came out of the goal and Jeffrey Trusswell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Freddie Hatcher made the kick off in the second half. After 53 played minutes Border Jets FC got a freekick which was hit by Ross Chambers. Jeffrey Trusswell's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Philip Barratt firmly grabbed it by the left post. Philip Barratt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Garry Walker, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. Border Jets FC's Philip Barratt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Byron Oddy in the 68th minute of play. When Freddie Hatcher came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Border Jets FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Freddie Hatcher couldn't finish the play. Border Jets FC's Philip Barratt proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save Border Jets FC from getting a goal against them. 0-6 became the score in the 86th minute when Tyrone Bowler elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Philip Barratt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tyrone Bowler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
