Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Dave Pool kicked off to start the match. Dominic Blythe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fred Wishart having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Dominic Blythe managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tipton United's supporters rose to their feet, but Dominic Blythe was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fred Wishart breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Finley FC booed when Tipton United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dominic Blythe didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Vince Clarke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Finley FC's Fred Wishart played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dave Pool in the 18th minute of play. In the 24th minute, Keiran Connor hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ron Collins took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 25th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Fred Wishart. Finley FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Dominic Blythe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 29 played minutes Finley FC got a freekick which was hit by Den Coe. Dave Pool fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fred Wishart having to interfere. Fred Wishart made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Dominic Blythe sent off a good shot on target. Fred Wishart made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dominic Blythe in the 41st minute. Fred Wishart made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dave Pool in the 47th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In the 55th minute Paul Winterburn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Len Humphreys saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carl Bullard kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Fred Wishart showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dave Pool in the 62nd minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Dominic Blythe's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fred Wishart was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. A collision led to Tipton United getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Glenn Townsley hit a great ball. When Dave Pool came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Tipton United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dave Pool couldn't finish the play. After 76 played minutes Tipton United got a freekick which was hit by Tyrone Burton. Fred Wishart showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dominic Blythe, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Dominic Blythe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dave Pool fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fred Wishart having to interfere. Den Coe's late challenge caught a Tipton United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Den Coe helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Finley FC getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Den Coe hit a great ball. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
