Rod Goodall was extremely unlucky when he, in the 12th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. 14 minutes into the match, Selhurst FC's goal looked a bit too open when Rod Goodall came free, but Conan Wilkins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Isaac Cartwright had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Westhoughton City's Keith Beard got a free kick in the 18th minute. If Jools Potterton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Conan Wilkins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rod Goodall in the 28th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice moves Isaac Cartwright could shoot a difficult shot in the 30th minute, which Conan Wilkins however easily saved by the left post. Conan Wilkins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rod Goodall, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Isaac Cartwright came free with the goalkeeper in the 44th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Conan Wilkins could save by the left post. Selhurst FC's Conan Wilkins proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Selhurst FC from getting a goal against them. With his leg Conan Wilkins managed to avoid a goal in the 46thth minute, when Westhoughton City's Isaac Cartwright fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rod Goodall to strike the kick off in the second half. John Fawell kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. In the 53rd minute of the match Jacob Garlick sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Conan Wilkins skillfully saved the ball. A throw-in in the 57th minute of the game was made by Roy Fairbank with Thom Alderson as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Conan Wilkins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rod Goodall, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Selhurst FC's goalie and right to Thom Alderson. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Selhurst FC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. With 68 minutes on the clock, John Fawell commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 68 minutes into the game, one of Selhurst FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Jacob Garlick shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Conan Wilkins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Isaac Cartwright, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. In the 79th minute, Rod Goodall got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Isaac Cartwright in the 80th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Conan Wilkins saved Selhurst FC from getting behind. Conan Wilkins made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Isaac Cartwright in the 88th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thom Alderson in the 92nd minute of play forced Selhurst FC's goalkeeper Conan Wilkins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
