Ed Midson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Micheal Goodman, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Stewart Read sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 29 minutes into the match, Micheal Goodman had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ed Midson. Man City's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Micheal Goodman was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Ed Midson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-4. Knights of the Spring's Russ Webster played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stan Marriott in the 44th minute of play. 46 minutes into the game, one of Man City:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Knights of the Spring a penalty, 48 minutes into the game. Russ Webster was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
