Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Stan Marriott kicked off to start the match. Jay Shaw made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gaz Bowen in the 5th minute of play. Man City's Larry Forrester got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 9thth minute of the game Stan Marriott who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but congelton saints's Jay Shaw was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 11th minute, Thomas Lee-Barrett hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Larry Forrester missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 13 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Jay Shaw right hand side. In the 14th minute, Glenn Alsop hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Man City getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Larry Forrester hit a great ball. Ed Midson was a little too slow when Syd Haugue got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 17th minute. The score was now 1-0. Larry Forrester's late challenge caught a congelton saints's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Larry Forrester helped the player get up and apologised. Larry Forrester kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Ed Midson had great luck who in the 22ndth minute grab hold of the ball when Syd Haugue from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. congelton saints's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jude Burnett in the 24th minute. Stewart Read sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 29th minute Larry Forrester shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jay Shaw saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ed Midson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Denzil Fenwick's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. Denzil Fenwick could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Ed Midson made a huge save. Man City's Ed Midson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Man City from getting a goal against them. With a little luck, Man City's Ed Midson got control of the ball when Denzil Fenwick tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 38 minutes, Denzil Pool mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Man City and the congelton saints players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 38th match minute, Man City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Denzil Pool to maneuver through the defense. Jude Burnett, 39 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. 42 minutes into the match, Man City's goalkeeper Ed Midson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Barry Gayle. In the 44th minute, Larry Forrester made a precise shot to the right of Jay Shaw. congelton saints's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Jay Shaw came out of the goal in the 47th minute to try and stop a shot by Man City's Larry Forrester. But to his dismay, Larry Forrester quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Syd Haugue stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Stan Marriott fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jay Shaw having to interfere. After 56 minutes of play, Man City's Gaz Bowen made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jay Shaw was left in no man's land by his defense there! Syd Haugue received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Ed Midson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 64th minute, Man City's Stan Marriott dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-4. Ed Midson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Barry Gayle, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Michael Edmonton in the 73rd minute of play forced Man City's goalkeeper Ed Midson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Denzil Fenwick in the 78th minute of play forced Man City's goalkeeper Ed Midson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 81st minute Barry Gayle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ed Midson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 87th minute, Syd Haugue left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The congelton saints fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-4. Ed Midson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Syd Haugue in the 93rd minute of the match. If Stan Marriott had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 96 minutes into the game, Gaz Bowen recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jay Shaw. Gaz Bowen showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-5. The Man City players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
