Spectators: 6000 (Terracing: 4500, Seating: 1500, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Ed Midson was left in no man's land by his defense there! Stan Marriott received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Peter Hampton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Stan Marriott in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Peter Hampton saved Walworth Runners from getting behind. In the 18thth minute of the game Stan Marriott who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Walworth Runners's Peter Hampton was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Walworth Runners's Peter Hampton proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Walworth Runners from getting a goal against them. Peter Hampton was out of position in the 24 minute of play, and Stan Marriott capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Stan Marriott really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. In the 27thth minute of the game Stan Marriott who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Walworth Runners's Peter Hampton was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Milner in the 29th minute of play forced Man City's goalkeeper Ed Midson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Walworth Runners's Peter Hampton got control of the ball when Gaz Bowen tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 31st minute, Jonny Coulson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Stewart Read received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Stan Marriott made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stan Marriott in the 51st minute of play forced Walworth Runners's goalkeeper Peter Hampton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 57th minute, Larry Forrester got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gaz Bowen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Peter Hampton having to interfere. 61 minutes into the match, Walworth Runners's goal looked a bit too open when Gaz Bowen came free, but Peter Hampton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Stan Marriott sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Man City's Tristram Fieldwick got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 66 minutes into the match, Walworth Runners's goal looked a bit too open when Gaz Bowen came free, but Peter Hampton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 69 minutes into the match, David Milner had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ed Midson. Man City's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that David Milner was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. If Gaz Bowen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Man City's Stan Marriott in the 79th minute got a chance for a shot 79th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Walworth Runners's goalie prevented a goal. In the 81st minute Larry Forrester shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Peter Hampton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gaz Bowen in the 83rd minute of play forced Walworth Runners's goalkeeper Peter Hampton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Peter Hampton stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Stan Marriott's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. After 85 minutes of play, Man City's Gaz Bowen made it 3-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Peter Hampton was left in no man's land by his defense there! 90 minutes into the match, Walworth Runners's goal looked a bit too open when Larry Forrester came free, but Peter Hampton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 91 minutes of play, Man City's Rufus Creighton made it 4-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Peter Hampton was left in no man's land by his defense there! There was no doubt that Man City were the better team. Man City's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
