Chesney Westlake took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 9th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Simon Crossley. hull afc's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Simon Crossley showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rio Ratcliffe, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jay Summers in the 11th minute of play forced hull afc's goalkeeper Simon Crossley to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 13 minutes into the match, hull afc's goal looked a bit too open when Jay Summers came free, but Simon Crossley reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tris Little sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The wind increased when Jay Summers made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 53 minutes, Tris Little managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Skegness's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tris Little was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jay Summers's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Simon Crossley read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. In the 74th minute, Chris Robertson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match was over Skegness could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than hull afc throughout the match.
