Match Report
Timperley Park
Spectators: 7534 (Terracing: 5652,
Seating: 1732, VIP seats: 150) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Jay Summers took the kick off in the first half of the match. Zaq Morning received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Simon Whitehead tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Timperley's Benjamin Horsell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Garry Eadan in the 9th minute of play. When Den Pinder fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Timperley's protests and gave Den Pinder a yellow card for diving instead. Den Pinder hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. When Skegness's Jay Summers in the 11th minute got a chance for a shot 11th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Timperley's goalie prevented a goal. Tris Little received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Benjamin Horsell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Deon Coulthard hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. In the game's 15th minute Skegness's Chesney Westlake took a hard shot from long distance, a kick which went into the net just to the right of Benjamin Horsell and thus the score was 0-1. Benjamin Horsell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jay Summers in the 24th minute of the match. Skegness's Simon Whitehead proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Skegness from getting a goal against them. Simon Whitehead made an important save on a dangerous shot by Calum Renner in the 33rd minute. Timperley's Benjamin Horsell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tris Little in the 37th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Jay Summers's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benjamin Horsell was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. The supporters of Skegness booed when Timperley was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alec Bodsworth didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Tris Little had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tris Little received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Benjamin Horsell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 46th match minute, Timperley was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alec Bodsworth to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Timperley's zone, Jay Summers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benjamin Horsell came out of the goal and Jay Summers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zaq Morning to strike the kick off in the second half. 56 minutes into the match, Timperley's goalkeeper Benjamin Horsell had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tris Little. In the 60th minute the ball was on its way in behind Timperley's goalkeeper Benjamin Horsell, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Curtis Saville charged in rather forcefully in the 62nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Curtis Saville the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 63rd match minute, Skegness was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Curtis Saville to maneuver through the defense. Simon Whitehead stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Zaq Morning's shot from short distance in the 64th minute. If Tris Little had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Jay Summers came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Skegness fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jay Summers couldn't finish the play. Tris Little sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Timperley's Benjamin Horsell proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Timperley from getting a goal against them. After having played for 86 minutes, Tris Little managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Skegness's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tris Little was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jay Summers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tris Little's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benjamin Horsell read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 90th minute of play. Skegness's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
