Spectators: 6776 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1726, VIP seats: 50) Matt Stayton made the kick off and thus started the match. 3 minutes into the match, East Grinstead City's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastian Kearney came free, but Len Emmerson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Len Emmerson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marc Helks in the 5th minute of play. Len Emmerson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marc Helks, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. In the 9th minute Matt Stayton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Len Emmerson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 13thth minute of the game Marc Helks who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but East Grinstead City's Len Emmerson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in East Grinstead City's zone, Marc Helks stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Len Emmerson came out of the goal and Marc Helks tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. East Grinstead City's Len Emmerson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matt Stayton in the 18th minute of play. If Marc Helks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Len Emmerson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marc Helks, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the East Grinstead City defense, Matt Stayton kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Len Emmerson. The East Grinstead City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Len Emmerson should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marc Helks in the 30th minute of play forced East Grinstead City's goalkeeper Len Emmerson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 31stth minute of the game Marc Helks who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but East Grinstead City's Len Emmerson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marc Helks in the 32nd minute of play forced East Grinstead City's goalkeeper Len Emmerson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marc Helks sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Matt Stayton recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Len Emmerson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Matt Stayton went, in the 46th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. The East Grinstead City players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Calne were winning 0-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Benji Ginn was the one to do the kick off. Len Emmerson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marc Helks in the 54th minute. Matt Stayton recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. East Grinstead City's defense didn't have a chance, in the 59th minute, when Matt Stayton scored to the left of an out of position Len Emmerson, making the score, 0-4. Matt Stayton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Len Emmerson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Benji Ginn hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. 75 minutes in the game, Matt Stayton dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. After 77 played minutes Matt Stayton rounded East Grinstead City's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-5. Through an outstanding action, after 81 minutes, Len Emmerson successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Marc Helks sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Matt Stayton was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 85th minute. Calne's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Matt Stayton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Len Emmerson having to interfere. When Pete White fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored East Grinstead City's protests and gave Pete White a yellow card for diving instead. After 88 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for East Grinstead City! Tim Rowling shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Marc Helks recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Matt Stayton received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Len Emmerson came out and tried to block the shot, but Matt Stayton slotted it home off the left post making it 0-6 in the 98th minute. Calne's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
