Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Jason Hayes started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. After a defensive mix-up in Winsford's zone, Micheal Fry stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Terry Winship came out of the goal and Micheal Fry tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Anthony Prince who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 6thth minute tested the skills of Todd Sewell when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Brynn Bonds hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leigh Horseman in the 8th minute of play forced Neston's goalkeeper Todd Sewell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice moves Isaac McRobbie could shoot a difficult shot in the 11th minute, which Todd Sewell however easily saved by the left post. Anthony Prince received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Todd Sewell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Neston's Fred Hehir got a free kick in the 17th minute. With a little luck, Neston's Todd Sewell got control of the ball when Anthony Prince tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 24th minute Leigh Horseman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Todd Sewell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Neston's Todd Sewell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leigh Horseman in the 27th minute of play. Leigh Horseman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Todd Sewell having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Neston's Phil Notley got a free kick in the 37th minute. Winsford's Anthony Prince got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Leigh Horseman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Through an outstanding action, after 53 minutes, Terry Winship successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Anthony Prince's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Todd Sewell read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. In the 63rd minute of the match Nicky Oliver shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Todd Sewell showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When Jason Hayes, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 65 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Terry Winship was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. With a little luck, Winsford's Terry Winship got control of the ball when Micheal Fry tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Winsford getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Eric Baker hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Anthony Prince in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Todd Sewell saved Neston from getting behind. After recieving a nice pass, Winsford's Nicky Oliver tried to score from far away in the 95th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After having played for 96 minutes, Leigh Horseman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Winsford's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leigh Horseman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. There was no doubt that Winsford were the better team. Winsford's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
