Marek Lewington's late challenge caught a St Ives AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marek Lewington helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, FC Nevėžis's Marek Lewington got a free kick in the 5th minute. The audience was convinced that Blair Bartlett's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Derek Holbrook was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. When FC Nevėžis's Blair Bartlett in the 10th minute got a chance for a shot 10th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye St Ives AFC's goalie prevented a goal. The supporters of FC Nevėžis booed when St Ives AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Danny Shackleton didn't get a good kick on the ball. Blair Bartlett took the ball and in the 14 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Derek Holbrook. Derek Holbrook dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. If Jeff Ackroyd had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jeff Ackroyd came free with the goalkeeper in the 19th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Alan Kerr could save by the left post. Alan Kerr was a little too slow when John Fowler got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 21st minute. The score was now 1-1. John Fowler did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-1 to the left of a surprised Alan Kerr 25 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Blair Bartlett managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Nevėžis's supporters rose to their feet, but Blair Bartlett was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Derek Holbrook breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, St Ives AFC's Johnathon Barat got a free kick in the 31st minute. After recieving a nice pass, FC Nevėžis's Marek Lewington tried to score from far away in the 32nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Alan Kerr showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from John Fowler, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Jake Chambers hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. In the 47th minute, Danny Shackleton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

In the 51st match minute, St Ives AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anthony Soares to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marek Lewington in the 52nd minute of play forced St Ives AFC's goalkeeper Derek Holbrook to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 53rd match minute, St Ives AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Danny Shackleton to maneuver through the defense. If Piers Rathmell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 58th minute, Danny Shackleton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Piers Rathmell blasted a shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Derek Holbrook having to make a save. In the 66th minute, St Ives AFC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Piers Rathmell fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Blair Bartlett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Blair Bartlett got free with Derek Holbrook in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 70th minute the ball was on its way in behind St Ives AFC's goalkeeper Derek Holbrook, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to FC Nevėžis getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Justin Atkins hit a great ball. Billie Monk kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. If Blair Bartlett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jeff Ackroyd fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alan Kerr having to interfere.
