Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Nathan Crouch got the match started through his kick off. In the 8th minute, Marty Noble got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 10 minutes into the match, Chester-le-Street City's goal looked a bit too open when Frazer Shaw came free, but Ruben Rowett reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Reading FC's Ash Lawless played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nathan Crouch in the 13th minute of play. Joseph Clare kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dion Barber in the 22nd minute of play forced Reading FC's goalkeeper Ash Lawless to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Reading FC's Ash Lawless played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Scott Blakeley in the 24th minute of play. In the 26th minute, Jonathon Burgess hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 27th minute of the match Dion Barber sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ash Lawless skillfully saved the ball. After having played for 34 minutes, Frazer Shaw managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Reading FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frazer Shaw was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Reading FC getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Frazer Shaw hit a great ball. Ash Lawless made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nathan Crouch in the 38th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Scott Blakeley in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ash Lawless saved Reading FC from getting behind. In the 42nd minute, Kirk Garner-Currie hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Reading FC's Ash Lawless played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nathan Crouch in the 45th minute of play. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frazer Shaw stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Scott Blakeley's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Ash Lawless firmly grabbed it by the left post. Jonathon Burgess received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Ruben Rowett tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Reading FC's Frazer Shaw got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Marty Noble had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Chester-le-Street City getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Dion Barber hit a great ball. Ash Lawless took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nathan Crouch, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 70 played minutes Reading FC got a freekick which was hit by Kirk Garner-Currie. Ash Lawless acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 71st minute, took the ball on the long shot from Piers Durkin. 79 minutes into the match, Nathan Crouch dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ash Lawless, 0-1. A collision led to Chester-le-Street City getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Dominic Clough hit a great ball. Ruben Rowett took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adrian Revell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Reading FC's Ash Lawless got control of the ball when Scott Blakeley tried to sneak it across the goal line. 92 minutes into the match, Frazer Shaw notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Chester-le-Street City's Ruben Rowett. Ruben Rowett was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Nathan Crouch charged in rather forcefully in the 94th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nathan Crouch the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 95 played minutes Chester-le-Street City got a freekick which was hit by Nathan Crouch.
