Spectators: 7406 (Terracing: 5500, Seating: 1756, VIP seats: 150) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Mike Garforth kicked off to start the match. Mike Garforth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruben Rowett having to interfere. Ruben Rowett came out of the goal in the 8th minute to try and stop a shot by Inter Academy's Jeff Dibb. But to his dismay, Jeff Dibb quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. 11 minutes into the game, Dion Barber was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Chester-le-Street City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Inter Academy the free kick. After 11 played minutes Chester-le-Street City got a freekick which was hit by Dion Barber. Silvester Furlong made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Scott Blakeley in the 16th minute of play. A hard shot by Dylon Daly from long distance, 20 minutes into the match, got Ruben Rowett's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Tony Colman charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tony Colman the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Ruben Rowett showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeff Dibb, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. 30 minutes into the match, Chester-le-Street City's goalkeeper Ruben Rowett had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mike Garforth. Ruben Rowett came out of the goal in the 32nd minute to try and stop a shot by Inter Academy's Mike Garforth. But to his dismay, Mike Garforth quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jonathan Fitter during the 34th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 34th match minute, Inter Academy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonathan Fitter to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Chester-le-Street City's zone, Jeff Dibb stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ruben Rowett came out of the goal and Jeff Dibb tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 39th minute, Dominic Clough hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ruben Rowett made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christian Knott in the 41st minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

The wind increased when Nathan Crouch made the kick off in the second half. Matt Denham took the ball and in the 52 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ruben Rowett. Ruben Rowett dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. Inter Academy's Christian Knott got a good chance for a goal in the 56th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 59th minute, Scott Blakeley made a precise shot to the right of Silvester Furlong. Inter Academy's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-2. Nathan Crouch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silvester Furlong having to interfere. In the 70th match minute, Inter Academy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jonathan Fitter to maneuver through the defense. After 72 minutes of play, Inter Academy's Mike Garforth made it 5-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ruben Rowett was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 75th match minute, Chester-le-Street City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dion Barber to maneuver through the defense. Scott Blakeley's late challenge caught a Inter Academy's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Scott Blakeley helped the player get up and apologised. Ruben Rowett showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mike Garforth, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Chester-le-Street City's zone, Christian Knott stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ruben Rowett came out of the goal and Christian Knott tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 82 minutes, Mike Garforth made it 6-2 with a short kick to the right side. Chester-le-Street City's Ruben Rowett tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Mike Garforth scored 7-2 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ruben Rowett, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. There was no doubt that Inter Academy were the better team. Inter Academy's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
