Rhys Laycock was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Silvester Furlong made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aaron Nightingale in the 24th minute of play. After 25 played minutes Inter Academy got a freekick which was hit by Matt Denham. In the 26th minute of the match Fitz Markham sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Silvester Furlong skillfully saved the ball. Rhys Laycock didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mike Garforth went, in the 29th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. With a little luck, Maniac City's Rhys Laycock got control of the ball when Mike Garforth tried to sneak it across the goal line. Silvester Furlong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aaron Nightingale in the 43rd minute of the match. When Piers Beardsley fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Inter Academy's protests and gave Piers Beardsley a yellow card for diving instead. Piers Beardsley hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mike Garforth to make the kick off. Kristopher Webster charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Kristopher Webster the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Maniac City booed when Inter Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position.
