Keanu Fry, 39 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Brendon Hewitt took the ball and in the 41 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Scott Murtagh. Scott Murtagh dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. After 45 minutes of play, Liverpool's Brendon Hewitt made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Scott Murtagh was left in no man's land by his defense there! Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Thomas Cheesman to make the kick off. Grant Wardman might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Scott Murtagh. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Grant Wardman ran back to his position shaking his head. Grant Wardman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Scott Murtagh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Scott Murtagh was a little too slow when Brendon Hewitt got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 64th minute. The score was now 0-4. In the 68th minute Brendon Hewitt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Scott Murtagh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Liverpool getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Simon Little hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Harrogate's Thomas Cheesman got a free kick in the 70th minute. When Brendon Hewitt came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Liverpool fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Brendon Hewitt couldn't finish the play. Scott Murtagh showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Brendon Hewitt in the 76th minute of the match. In the 80th minute Brendon Hewitt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Scott Murtagh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Scott Murtagh showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brendon Hewitt, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Grant Wardman succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-5 in the 97th playminute. Liverpool's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
