Kenny Upson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Liverpool booed when Crosby was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Austin Pryor didn't get a good kick on the ball. 14 minutes into the match, Liverpool's Brendon Hewitt sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Stuart Langford narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Grant Wardman succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 16th playminute. Kenny Upson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kenny Upson in the 23rd minute of play forced Liverpool's goalkeeper Johnnie Gallacher to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Grant Wardman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stuart Langford having to interfere. The long shot by Lucas Boland in the 38th minute really tested Stuart Langford's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. With a little luck, Crosby's Stuart Langford got control of the ball when Grant Wardman tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Crosby getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Austin Pryor hit a great ball. Stuart Langford made an important save on a dangerous shot by Grant Wardman in the 44th minute. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Brendon Hewitt made a kick off. Brendon Hewitt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Stuart Langford tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 63 minutes into the match, Liverpool's Grant Wardman sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Stuart Langford narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Johnnie Gallacher showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kenny Upson, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Francis Midson hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Kenny Upson in the 91stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Johnnie Gallacher, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. 92 minutes into the match, Brendon Hewitt had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Stuart Langford. Crosby's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Brendon Hewitt was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Austin Pryor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Liverpool fans cheered their team off the field, for while Crosby had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
