In the 8th minute, Dion Cross hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Verne Bator during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Woolwich City fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 12th minute. Penalty! In the 14th minute there was a penalty for Manchester Devils. Brynn Kessler stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Malcolm Bowler. 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sacha Kerr in the 16th minute of play forced Woolwich City's goalkeeper Malcolm Bowler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alf Ricketts took the ball and in the 18 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dominik Hunter. Dominik Hunter dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. After 21 played minutes Manchester Devils got a freekick which was hit by Richie Ripley. Tommy Bland fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dominik Hunter having to interfere. In the 26th minute Bart Lappin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Malcolm Bowler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Woolwich City's Tommy Bland got a free kick in the 30th minute. When the match clock showed 31 minutes, the score became 1-2 when Sacha Kerr sped through Woolwich City's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Malcolm Bowler. With an all-out effort, Woolwich City's Dominik Hunter threw himself towards the right post 46 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Tommy Bland, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sacha Kerr to make the kick off. Dominik Hunter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tommy Bland in the 56th minute of the match. A collision led to Manchester Devils getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Brynn Kessler hit a great ball. Sacha Kerr was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 68th minute. Manchester Devils's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Sacha Kerr sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Woolwich City's Alf Ricketts got a free kick in the 71st minute. Bart Lappin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tommy Bland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Sacha Kerr kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Malcolm Bowler. That made the score 1-3 in the 81 minute of play. In the 86th match minute, Woolwich City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Byron Chalk to maneuver through the defense. Brynn Kessler shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Malcolm Bowler made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bart Lappin in the 98th minute.
