The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Drew Silk fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mickey Davis having to interfere. The Halton Holegate fans' excitement grew in the 6th match minute when Halton Holegate's Dennis Poate looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Through an outstanding action, after 10 minutes, Mickey Davis successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

In the 94th minute, Louie Ottaway got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Halton Holegate's Dennis Poate in the 95th minute got a chance for a shot 95th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Stourbridge's goalie prevented a goal.
