Justin Kershaw came out of the goal and Casey Shephard tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Phil Carroll during the 6th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Camberwell getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Phil Carroll hit a great ball. Justin Kershaw made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kasey Edwards in the 8th minute. Ben Rose received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Derek Dobbs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Casey Shephard's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Justin Kershaw read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. In the 24th minute, Casey Shephard reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Justin Kershaw. The goal made the score 1-0. After a defensive mix-up in Coppull's zone, Ricky Golding stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Derek Dobbs came out of the goal and Ricky Golding tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sean Lawson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 38th minute, Casey Shephard got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ben Rose received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Derek Dobbs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 44th minute, Kasey Edwards made a precise shot to the right of Justin Kershaw. Camberwell's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. In the 48th minute the ball was on its way in behind Camberwell's goalkeeper Justin Kershaw, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ben Rose made a kick off. Kasey Edwards fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Justin Kershaw having to interfere. Peter Worrall charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Peter Worrall the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 60 played minutes Camberwell got a freekick which was hit by Peter Worrall. After a rather tough play, Coppull's Casey Shephard got a free kick in the 61st minute. In the 63rd minute, Casey Shephard ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Justin Kershaw was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. Ricky Golding could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Derek Dobbs made a huge save. With a little luck, Coppull's Derek Dobbs got control of the ball when Ricky Golding tried to sneak it across the goal line. 74 minutes into the game, Duncan Barron was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Coppull's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Camberwell the free kick. In the 74th minute, Duncan Barron hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Camberwell's Phil Ackland couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 75th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Coppull. 78 minutes into the match, Camberwell's Ricky Golding sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Derek Dobbs narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Coppull's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kasey Edwards was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Camberwell's Justin Kershaw played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Casey Shephard in the 86th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Casey Shephard's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Justin Kershaw was relentless in the 89th minute of the game. If Ben Rose had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Coppull had played much better football throughout.
