Robin Gildea was out of position in the 11 minute of play, and Russell Theakston capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Russell Theakston really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Pete McDonald fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stevie Holt having to interfere. Pete McDonald might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Stevie Holt. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pete McDonald ran back to his position shaking his head. 19 minutes into the match, King Of The North's Russell Theakston sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Robin Gildea narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Russell Theakston came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the King Of The North fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Russell Theakston couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rod Titmus in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Stevie Holt saved King Of The North from getting behind. Robin Gildea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Russell Theakston, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. In the 34th minute, Ivan Brook got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kris Salmon during the 37th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ivan Brook in the 88th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Robin Gildea prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Russell Theakston's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Robin Gildea read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 92nd minute of play. When Rod Titmus came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Brigden fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rod Titmus couldn't finish the play. 101 minutes into the match, Brigden's goal looked a bit too open when Russell Theakston came free, but Robin Gildea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Brigden players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for King Of The North.
