Ivan Newton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ronny Beaumont in the 10th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Franz Lightfoot's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ivan Newton was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. A collision led to The Meldreth United getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Vince Gamble hit a great ball. After 21 minutes of play, Kemsing's Franz Lightfoot made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ivan Newton was left in no man's land by his defense there! Christian Short fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivan Newton having to interfere. A collision led to Kemsing getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Howard Hutchings hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Franz Lightfoot in the 39th minute of play forced The Meldreth United's goalkeeper Ivan Newton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Franz Lightfoot had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ivan Newton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronny Beaumont in the 43rd minute of play. A collision led to The Meldreth United getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Alf Langley hit a great ball. Ronny Beaumont recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Thomas Little to make the kick off. The Meldreth United's Ivan Newton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Franz Lightfoot in the 51st minute of play. Franz Lightfoot could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Ivan Newton made a huge save. Franz Lightfoot sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thomas Little might have been able to make a better finish in the 65th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bart Houghton. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Thomas Little ran back to his position shaking his head. Robin Goodwin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Ronny Beaumont had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 74th match minute, Kemsing was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lance Beardsley to maneuver through the defense. Through an outstanding action, after 77 minutes, Ivan Newton successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. A very good chance. 97 minutes into the game, Franz Lightfoot recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ivan Newton. Franz Lightfoot showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3.
